5 Minute Thermal Detox mask

What they say
The warmth of this self-heating mask helps to open up the pores so the charcoal and kaolin clay can help draw out the impurities from deep within the skin. As well as purifying, the mask also rebalances the skin’s oil levels to clarify, cleanse and leave skin with a silky touch, essential oil of myrrh helps soothe and calm.

Does it work?
I really like this mask. Its great if you are in a hurry as it only takes five minutes.
As soon as you apply it you can feel it warming up and it feels like it is really working.
It is quite thick, but you only need a thin layer.

I have been using this for 2 weeks and I have seen improvement in my skin. I leave it on for five minutes. I apply this after having a bath as my pores are then open and I feel this makes it work better.

This did not irritate my skin at all and left it feeling soft and cleansed.
This normally costs £9.99.

You can also get this in a 15ml sachet for £1.99

I give this a 9/10

Treacle Moon That Vanilla Moment Body Scrub

I picked this up in Tesco about 3 weeks ago as it was on offer for £2 ish and I needed a new body scrub. They only had the Vanilla one in my Tesco which is annoying as since looking at their website Ive seen they do many other smells..like Raspberry and coconut.
Here is the website..... They do a lot of different products lip balms, body butter etc.

That Vanilla Moment Body Scrub

Smelt this in the shop before I brought it smells of ice cream :)

This has a creamy texture with small black bits that are for exfoliating your skin.
I did notice once you start using this the smell is quite sickly compared to how it smells in the tube. Also the smells doesn't linger on your skin for long either. Can be a good or bad thing? A good thing with this product. But if I liked the smell I would want the smell to last on my skin a lot longer.

In terms of how it exfoliates it's okay.I have used other scrubs that are a lot better.
My skin feels smooth but it doesnt feel nourished.
Would be a lot better if it was more moisturising.

Overall, for £2 it is okay, But I will not repurchase again.
I will try the other products they have in the range but not any of the Vanilla smelling products.

4/10

Products costing just £1 at discount stores are the SAME as those sold at Boots for up to £8.

I was reading The Sun newspaper when I came across this article.
Here

I know I would rather pay £1 for this then what Boots charge.
It is exactly the same product but with a different label stuck over the boots one.
It makes me think how many other companies actually do this?

Revlon vital radiance primers

I don't think I have seen this range in the shops Boots etc, but I brought mine from Ebay..Yes they were all brand new, carded and cheap! You can also find this range in T.J Hughes.

I have been looking for some good primers for some time, when I saw this make up by Revlon.

Smoothing face primer
This comes in two shades Apricot warm for olive and darker skin tones and petal cool for fairer, pink skin tone. Depending on what skin type you have. I am cool skinned with pink tones so went with the Petal cool.I got this from Ebay for about £3.50 for 30ml.

What I love about this:
  • Oil free
  • Contains SPF 25
  • Helps minimize pores
  • keeps foundation in place for longer.
  • Evens skin tone

I apply this about ten minutes after my moisturiser and wait another 5 minutes before applying my foundation, I have found that this really does help the over look of my skin. The fact that it is oil free is great as my skin can at times be oily. It does help my foundation last longer and go on a lot smoother. It has a creamy texture a lot like foundation, you do need to make sure that it is rubbed in well.

I love the fact it contains SPF 25, as I worry a lot about sun damage, especially on the face as the sun can cause wrinkles..!

Tip: Blend equal amounts of primer and foundation in your hand, then apply like normal for sheer, luminous coverage.

Smoothing Lip Primer
I have never used a lip primer before, I normally use my Dove lip care to look after my lips.I paid around £2/3 for this. Its looks like a normal lipstick.

What I love about this:
  • Very moisturising
  • Contains SPF 15
  • Conditions lips

It goes on clear and leaves a glossy finish. To be honest, its to glossy to be used as a primer. I applied my lipstick over this and as its so glossy the lipstick didn't last long at all.

I use this as a lip balm, as it contains SPF and conditions,it looks great on its own, or over a nude lipstick to add a bit of extra shine.

Smoothing eye Primer
This primer is a moose type primer, and comes in a little plastic pot of 3.1g. A little goes a long way. I paid around £2.00 for this.

What I love about this:
  • Improves eye shadow application
  • Make eyeshadow colours more vibrant
  • Helps eyeshadow last longer without creasing.

This makes my eyelids a lot less oily and does not irritate my eyes at all, which is a plus as I have sensitive eyes. It does make your eye make up stay on longer then if you didn't use a primer,as it stops your eyelids from being to oily.
For the price this is pretty good.

I also use this as something to make some of my eyeshadow more vibrant. This did make my eyeshadow last a lot longer. I applied my make up today at 11am and at 6pm my eyeshadow is still there! With only a little bit of creasing. Would definitely recommend this.

Overall for the price they are not to bad at all. Out of the three the Face primer is definitely something I will buy again.

There is also a lot more in this range,Mascaras, blushers etc. They also do make up brushes as well, which I have not tried as yet.I think I might try some of the other products in the future.

OCC Lip Tar

Hello,

Sorry for lack of posts the last few weeks, but am now aiming to do one or two a week.

I received my prize from London Beauty Review a OCC lip tar in Hoochie last week, and I love it! It is a strong colour ideal for a night out,but can be worn during the day if mixed with the clear OCC lip tar or other lipglosses. It is a lovely purple/pinkish/magenta colour and last for long time.

It is non-sticky and the colour pay off is so good.
They can be a little drying, so make sure your lips are kept in good condition.
It has a slight minty scent to it.
You definitely need to use a Lip brush to apply this.

Photo taken in natural light with no flash, This photo doesn't really do it justice,it is a lot brighter!
If you look on youtube, com you can find alot of videos on these Lip Tars.

(I need to get a new camera!)
I'm defiantly going to get other colours they have in the range. I especially love Katricia and Hush.

You can get them from here for £8.99. Which is a great price they are worth it!!

I know this is a bit unrelated to make up etc, But i decided to buy Jillian Michael's 30 day shred DVD as Ive read so many good things about it! I definitely need to try something.

My boyfriend brought me this for Easter:

Which was lovely and a total surprise, I love Thornton's chocolate, So out went my diet!
I hope that this DVD is as good as people are saying,I'm defintaly going to stick to it!
Just have to keep thinking the summer is going to be here soon!

I'm currently a size 14 but I am tall 5ft 11 so I can carry it off okay, but I want to tone up & go back to being a size 12 which i was a year ago! Will let you now how its going once I try it out...

Anyway will be doing more posts from now on! Have so many things I want to review and new things I want to try.

Sebamed Cleansing Bar

Firstly I'd like to say Hello to my new followers! thank you for following my blog x

Up until I was 21 I had pretty good skin, with only the rare spot around that time of the month. Nothing to really worry about.
When I reached 21 my skin suddenly changed and I was having breakouts a few times a month, so depressing.

I have tried quite a few treatments Freedem,Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel and tea tree based products. They did help a bit with the redness and healing but only once I actually had the blemish. I needed something to stop me getting them in the first place.
I read about Sebamed products on another blog a couple of months ago, and decided to give it a try.

What they say
Sebamed clear face cleansing bar effective against pimples, blackheads and skin impurities in a natural way. Cleanses, deep into the pores gently, free of soap and alkali.

Cares for young skin with valuable amino acids, important vitamins and active moisturisers. Compatible to the skins own pH value of 5.5, it stabilisers the natural protective acid layer of the skin, providing biological protection against acne bacteria, thus effectively preventing new pimples.

It stabilizes the natural protective acid layer of the skin providing biological protection against acne bacteria therefore preventing new pimples.

Does it work?
Yes!! I have been using this for 5/6 weeks now, I like to try products out for at least 3 weeks to see the effect they have on my skin.

As this is soap free it does not dry your skin out at all, it leaves it really moisturized. Its all down to the PH level being restored and also it smells really nice as well!

I use this twice a day in the morning and before going to bed.
I use a make up remover wipe in the evening after using this bar to make sure all traces of make up are removed.

My skin is a lot clearer then it has been for the past two years! Ive even had people say how good my skin is! which is a great feeling.Especially if you have been suffering from skin problems for a while it does knock your confidence.
So to have people comment on how good my skin is now, means it must work!

Obviously I still get the odd blemish, and blackheads etc.. But this cleansing bar has improved my skin a lot.

You can find this online at many places. I paid £3.60 and that included P&P. So it really is inexpensive and worth trying out.

There a many different products in the range from liquid face and body wash to shampoo.

Overall I give this 10/10

RAVE Product Dove lip care ♥

One of my favorite products that I have been using this past month, is my Dove lip balm.

(Sorry stock photos again)

I asked a few weeks ago what people thought was the best to try, thank you for the replies. I will be picking up the Lush one next time I go past one, I'm still not sure about the Burt Bee's, as I really did not like the one I tried in the past.

I had a look online and on Ebay when I came across the Dove lip care.

The only down side is that these are not available in the UK, I think that they are from Germany or/and Denmark.

I have found someone that sells these on Ebay for a great price, let me know if you want to try this and I'l find out the name of the seller.

Dove have brought out five different versions of this. I want them all but cannot find the other colours online anywhere!

Anyway, This lip balm is the best one I have ever used so far, after two days of using this my once dry lips were lovely soft and flake free :)

The Product itself is white and smells like all the other Dove products which is a smell I love, It leaves a sheer glossy look and is so moisturizing.

Over all I love this product and give it a 10/10.

ELF Hd powder and Eyelid primer

This was the first time I have ever brought anything from ELF as I could never decide on what to get and wasn't too sure if the products would be any good due to the low price of the make up.

I decided to get the High Definition powder as I have heard some good reviews on it and was looking for a powder to set my make up anyway.

This cost £6.00
(Sorry about the stock pictures, I haven't got my camera at the moment)

What they say
The high definition loose powder creates a "soft focus" effect to the skin. Masks fine lines and imperfections for a radiant complexion. The incredibly soft and invisible powder is great for on-screen and everyday wear.

Does it work?
To be honest I am a bit disappointed with this product, I had heard such good reviews on it and was looking forward to using it.It is a very fine powder that feels silky it comes with a puff applicator but I decided to use a face brush to apply this as using the puff applicator you cannot see how much of the product you are using as the powder itself is white.

I used this after applying my foundation and concealer, I found with this that it does give a nice texture to the skin but also high lights any dry skin and fine lines. I have a combination skin type, so i do need to use a powder to stop the shine most days. I thought at first maybe I had used a little to much so on the second try I used a little bit less, but after 1-2 hours I didn't like the way my skin looked.
Could notice fine lines more then usual.

Over all I would give this a 6/10, maybe it suits people with different skin types better.

The second thing i decided to get was the Eyelid Primer. In the past I have used UDPP, which i love but thought i would try a cheaper one.

This cost £1.50.

What they say
Preps your eyelid for smoother, longer-lasting and crease-proof eyeshadow. The ultra sheer nude color works to increase eye color longevity. The lightweight liquid formula quickly absorbs into the skin for comfortable wear.

Does it work?
For the price I didnt expect that much, and to be honest its not that great.Half way through the day my eyeshadow had creased and looked messy.
It just caused my eyelids to be more oily then usual and cause the eyeshadow to crease more then it would with out using any primer at all!

Overall I give this a 2/10.

I have heard so many good things about ELF but personally I dont think there products seem very good at all,I might give them another go as I would love to see what the lipsticks are like, and also the mineral range they now have.
I have also heard good things about some of the brushes too.

What are your thoughts on ELF products?

I will be doing a post soon Ive just been so busy the last few weeks, with job interviews and all that.

Can you recommend a lip balm that works?

Ive been looking for a good lip balm to use, as my lips are quite dry from all this cold UK weather we have been having.

I used to use this great one that I brought from Debenhams a few years ago it came in a glass jar and was a pinky colour. It only cost £2 ish, but I lost it and cant remember the name of it!!

I tend to buy a new one every 2/3 months.

Anyway I have tried Burt Bees Pomegranate , Which to be honest I didn't like one bit, the taste of it was horrible, and it didn't condition that much at all.

Also have tried Chapstick,Nivea (which i found was too thick) Carmex and a few others.

The latest one I have brought is by Cowshed, Which smells lovely and is great to use to protect lips once they are in good condition, but I am looking for something to actually heal my lips.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great :) thanks

Clear Beauty day cream

I love a bargain, who doesn't?

While doing my shopping at Tesco I saw this Clear Beauty Moisturising day cream (50ml) for £1.00 so I thought id give it a try.

What they say
Moisture rich Clear Beauty Day Cream has been specially formulated to be used as part of your daily beauty regime, helping to keep your skin soft and healthy looking all day long.

Does it work?
For a pound I didn't no what to expect but I am quite surprised.

It is a nice creamy texture that sinks in to the skin straight away leaving no stickiness and leaves your skin feeling moisturised and soft.

It is ideal to use under make up as it provides a good base, which doesn't cause your foundation to slide off after a few hours!

Max Factor Second Skin

Lately I have been using Maybelline Dream matte mousse,But I find that if my skin is a bit dry that this can make my skin look a bit too cakey.

I decided to pick up Max Factor Second Skin from boots which retails at around £13.99.

There are only 5 shades to choose from at the moment, which is not many at all.
I decided to get the lightest shade "Creamy Ivory" as I am quite pale.

I only brought this a few days ago, So will write a proper review once I have worn it for a little longer.

Soap & Glory The Fab Pore 15 minute Facial Peel

Since receiving the Soap and glory Plane Jane beauty collection for Christmas, which I love I have decided to try out more of their range that they have to offer.

At the moment Boots are doing a offer to save 1/3 on selected products.
So I decided to get the Soap & Glory The Fab Pore 15 minute Facial Peel, Which was £4.00 instead of £6.00.

Ive been looking for a new face mask to try for a while now so thought I would give this a go.

What they say
On the box it claims to shrink pores thanks to the PORESHRINK-R COMPLEX And is ideal for greasy, spot prone or problem skin, or for a strategic attack on a misbehaving T-Zone.

Here is what is meant to do just that:

■FOMES OFFICINALIS EXTRACT: A mushroom extract to tighten pores.

■SALICYLIC ACID: which loosens up the dead cells that contribute to pore clogging

■KAOLIN: That’s ‘cosmetic’ for clay. It sops up extra oil on your skin and smoothes your skin’s surface!

■VITAMINS E & C: Antioxidants.

Here is what the packaging looks like..

Here is what the product looks like..

It is a creamy texture with small green beads. Not so much a "peel".

On the instructions it says to use a Grape size amount and massage in circles until the green beads have all dissolved. With this mask it doesn't dry as some do but its more of a sticky texture. You can either leave it on for 5 mins for a quick refresher, or for fifteen mins for a deep-cleaning.

Does it work?
I left it on for the full 15mins. After washing it off, (I would suggest using a flannel to get it all off as it is easier) My skin did feel more refreshed and my pores did look sightly smaller. You do need to use a good moisturizer after using this as it does leave your skin feeling quite dry but I think that is due to the Kaolin (clay) that soaks up excess oil on the skin.

I have tested this three times and I can say that my skin is starting to look a lot clearer and not as oily.

For £4.00 I think that this is a good buy, and is ideal to use once a week.

Rating 8/10
